Restorative movement therapy

Restorative Movement Therapy is a nervous system based approach to musculoskeletal issues and stress management. Gentle in nature, Restorative Movement Therapy aims to create positive changes in your unique nervous system so you recover faster, feel better, and perform at your very best.

Somatic Stress Management

A somatic approach to self-soothing entails directing attention towards the body’s current experience of anxiety and harnessing internal resources such as breath, sensation, movement, and touch to regulate the nervous system and relax the muscles.

Deep Health Coaching

Deep Health Coaching is a holistic approach to managing stressors and their physical effects on the body. Focus is emphasized in all areas of lifestyle where imbalances take a toll to build more robust health through skill building and resource development.

Treatment Specialties

Chronic Neck Tension

In a world centered on screen usage, chronic neck tension has become prevalent. Techniques will be employed not only to offer temporary relief, such as massage and stretching, but also to facilitate long-term restoration by addressing muscles involved in posture and vision.

Whiplash Injuries

Whether resulting from a car accident, a fall, or participation in contact sports, whiplash injuries can significantly disrupt how we feel and perform within the musculoskeletal system. Symptoms may persist for years, or even decades, remaining stored in the body and serving as the root cause of various aches and pains.

Chronic Headaches

Enduring headache pain is draining and deprives you of the capacity to fully participate in your desired daily activities. Headaches can stem from various sources, and accurately pinpointing these origins can significantly improve the management and resolution of headache discomfort.

TMJ Disorder

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD) can cause significant pain and disrupt sleep, focus, and dental health. TMJ disorder is often multifactorial, necessitating a comprehensive assessment to effectively reduce discomfort and restore greater balance to the body as a whole.

Foot/Ankle Pain

Walking smoothly without foot pain may appear unattainable, but it is achievable through restoration of the intricate engineering within the feet and ankles, coupled with a holistic approach to gait and foot health. With these efforts, walking barefoot can become pain-free once more!

Burnout/Chronic Stress

Chronic stress exhausts the body, diminishing its resilience in facing life's challenges. Through assessing critical aspects of lifestyle, we can implement small, sustainable changes that promote greater overall health and resilience to stress.

FAQ

Restorative Movement Therapy involves a comprehensive examination of your current lifestyle, health background, and mobility. By aligning your goals with the insights gained from this assessment, we empower your body to communicate its requirements for enhanced well-being and improved performance.

The first session for new clients is an hour and a half. Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes.

Payment is due at the time of service, and packages are available for purchase. I do not process insurance claims, but many clients have effectively utilized their FSA/HSA funds to cover their restorative movement therapy sessions.

During the active phase of addressing an issue, follow-up sessions are typically scheduled within 2-4 weeks of each other. You may also receive self-care exercises to independently perform to advance your progress. While some issues may resolve completely within 1-2 sessions, others may require more time. Based on my experience, if we haven’t observed the expected results after 4 sessions, I will suggest referral recommendations to ensure we address any underlying issues before proceeding further.

Booking an appointment is simple! You’ll notice several “schedule a session” buttons distributed across the site, along with a prominent BOOK NOW button at the top. Simply click on any of these buttons and you’ll be directed to my schedule, where you can select a convenient day and time for your appointment.

Session costs are exclusively determined by the reserved time, with no additional charges for utilizing various techniques to help you achieve your goals. Whether it’s craniosacral therapy, myofascial release work, deep tissue approaches, cupping, or kinesiotaping, if a technique contributes to your progress, it’s incorporated at no extra expense to you. Single session fees range from $85 to $145. Package pricing will be available soon.

Restorative Movement Therapy differs significantly from traditional massage or manual therapy. It emphasizes active participation on your part in your own recovery process. While massage techniques are included, it’s only one aspect of the process. Therefore, if you’re seeking a passive, relaxing experience where you can tune out, this approach may not be suitable for you. However, if you’re curious about whether working together could benefit you, feel free to schedule a complimentary Discovery Call. During this call, we can explore your goals and address any specific questions you may have about the therapy.

Each individual’s healing and recovery process is unique, and if you’ve been dealing with physical limitations for an extended period, it may take time to rebuild health in that area. While some people experience resolution within one or two sessions, others may require several sessions spread out over a few months. I typically recommend allowing for 3-5 sessions to assess progress in your recovery process. Throughout this time, I will continuously evaluate for any “red flags” that may indicate the need for referral to another health professional for additional medical work-up. Any recommendations will be promptly communicated. The objective is to facilitate your improvement as swiftly as possible, rather than making therapy sessions a permanent fixture in your life.

I am conveniently located in Gurnee, IL, near Six Flags Great America. Easy access to I-94 makes it convenient for individuals coming from the greater Chicagoland or Milwaukee areas.
